DRUCKER, PETER F.. CONCEPT OF THE CORPORATION
New York City, The John Day Company 1946. The first edition, in the original publisher's dust jacket. 8vo, pp. ix, 297.

¶ Peter Drucker (1909-2002) was an influential writer, management consultant and self-described "social ecologist". His books and scholarly articles explored how humans are organized across business, government, and the non-profit sectors of society. He is one of the best-known and most widely influential thinkers and writers on the subject of management theory and practice. His writings have predicted many of the major developments of the late twentieth century, including privatization and decentralization; the rise of Japan to economic world power; the decisive importance of marketing; and the emergence of the information society with its necessity of lifelong learning. His career was launched in 1942 when he gained access to the internal workings of General Motors, at that time one of the largest companies in the world. He was invited to conduct a "political audit": a two-year social-scientific analysis of the corporation. Drucker attended every board meeting, interviewed employees, and analyzed production and decision-making processes. (Wikipedia) The resulting book was "Concept of the Corporation". Our copy is bound in blue cloth with silver lettering. It shows light wear and is in good plus, to very good, condition. The original plain endpapers had tape stains and have been replaced with similar endpapers. The contents are unmarked. Tears in the dust jacket had some time ago been repaired with "scotch" tape, which has mainly been removed, and any resulting tears, or blemishes, repaired, or restored. The jacket is not perfect but serviceable and in good condition.
